這首Lana Del Rey的歌曲，雖然曲風與她以往的風格無異，但歌詞內容卻明顯不同。這首歌似乎是 Lana 對於試圖改變的展望，take the dead out of the sea/And the darkness from the arts即掏空內心深沉的黑暗秘密，她要由原本負面而悲觀的心態，轉向一個更積極的態度，正如這首歌的標題 Get Free 一般。

然而，這樣正面的心態似乎並不是那麼單純， I’ve got a war in my mind同樣一句歌詞也曾出現在 Ride 一曲中 I’ve got a war in my mind/ So, I just ride。想要拋下憂鬱的一面，談何容易？勢必會在光明與黑暗兩邊撕扯掙扎。對此，Lana 選擇了一個較於折衷的作法，Out of the black/ Into the blue 這一句就是最佳說明。她不想再沉浸於過去無止境的悲痛，因此選擇脫離黑暗，但脫離了黑暗之後，她並非就此過著七彩人生，而是選擇進入深藍，但藍色(blue)也是憂鬱的象徵，也就說，她試著離開無底的黑暗深淵，轉而進入一個較為健康的憂鬱狀態。畢竟，人生中要完全摒除悲傷是不可能的，她認為七彩人生不過是 chasin’ rainbows，是很不切實際的，因而選擇了面對人生中自然的悲傷，但又不至於像過去一樣，放任自己完全陷入，不可自拔。

這首歌曲的旋律曾被媒體批評有模仿 Radiohead 的 Creep 之嫌，無論事實為何，不可否認兩首歌都十分吸引人，相信喜歡 Lana 曲風的聽眾應該也都會喜歡 Radiohead 的 Creep 。
