这首Lana Del Rey的歌曲，虽然曲风与她以往的风格无异，但歌词内容却明显不同。这首歌似乎是 Lana 对于试图改变的展望，take the dead out of the sea/And the darkness from the arts即掏空内心深沉的黑暗秘密，她要由原本负面而悲观的心态，转向一个更积极的态度，正如这首歌的标题 Get Free 一般。

然而，这样正面的心态似乎并不是那么单纯， I’ve got a war in my mind同样一句歌词也曾出现在 Ride 一曲中 I’ve got a war in my mind/ So, I just ride。想要抛下忧郁的一面，谈何容易？势必会在光明与黑暗两边撕扯挣扎。对此，Lana 选择了一个较于折衷的作法，Out of the black/ Into the blue 这一句就是最佳说明。她不想再沉浸于过去无止境的悲痛，因此选择脱离黑暗，但脱离了黑暗之后，她并非就此过著七彩人生，而是选择进入深蓝，但蓝色(blue)也是忧郁的象征，也就说，她试着离开无底的黑暗深渊，转而进入一个较为健康的忧郁状态。毕竟，人生中要完全摒除悲伤是不可能的，她认为七彩人生不过是 chasin’ rainbows，是很不切实际的，因而选择了面对人生中自然的悲伤，但又不至于像过去一样，放任自己完全陷入，不可自拔。
