柏蒂 Birdy 在 2016 年三月即将发行的新专辑 Beautiful Lies (美丽的谎言) 中的同名单曲 Beautiful Lies ，据 Birdy 本人所说，是一首对她来说十分个人的歌曲。 Birdy 说“这是一首关于不愿面对改变，想要以谎言带过，假装什么事也没有发生的歌曲。”

歌词中叙说一段感情面临剧变，或许两人就要分手。然而，在这一刻，叙事者想到的，是从前幸福的那一刻。他想要将过去那些幸福的片段都化为永恒，即使事到如今只是假象，他也宁愿继续被欺骗，不愿面对痛苦的事实。在两人的冷战中，他已经 Lost in the silence （迷失在沉默中）。I don’t need to be free ，是说他宁愿继续把自己绑在一段感情里面，即使这管感情已经只剩下表面，他仍宁可选择只听对方美丽的谎言，告诉自己，对方仍爱着他。
