Blue Velvet是Bernie Wayne 及 Lee Morris 在 1950 年写的歌曲，原唱是 Tony Bennett，不过之后也有众多翻唱者，目前最新的翻唱版本就是Lana Del Rey 2012年的版本。

由于作曲者是男性，所以不太适合把这一首歌看成是Lana Del Rey 怀念同性的爱人的歌曲，毕竟她只是翻唱，所以歌词还是必须以男性角度出发。

歌词一开始就用了过去式，所以其实事过境迁，爱人现在已不在自己身边，只能透过回忆来纪念对她的情感。虽然整首歌以蓝丝绒作为主题，贯串全曲，不过其实重要的不是蓝丝绒，而是那个穿着蓝丝绒的女人，以及那个特别的夜晚。那夜的蓝天，那夜的星光，以及那女人的双眼，都胜过那件蓝丝绒，所以蓝丝绒只不过是用来衬托出自己对她的思念。然而，这只是一段短暂的恋情，火花过后，烧得什么也不剩。歌词中rapture这个字，可以同时指”热情”，也可以指”世界末日”，也就是说，在两人恋火渐盛的时候，也同时是告别的时候。可贵的是，事过多年后，自己还记得这段情感，虽然恋人已不在，但那件蓝丝绒仍能勾起回忆，化为不舍与缅怀的泪珠。

这个版本算是Blue Velvet还鏋有名的翻唱版（不过个人还是比较喜欢Lana版本）
