Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds

其實這首歌我聽了無數次還是不能很肯定它的意思，但最後推論出這種可能性之後，就開始覺得好像每一句歌詞都說得通了。歌詞寫得很美，但其實是一個關於強暴與孤獨的故事。

第一段我們大概可以知道歌詞的主角是一個非常寂寞、脆弱，但又偽裝堅強的人。他硬撐著不願低頭，只想把自己當作一個「正常人」。但接著，有x光眼的女人，看透的他的偽裝。她了解其實他的內心非常需要人陪伴，因此便利用這個弱點勾引他。”It’s hard to swallow like the pill/ That was twisted on your tongue”指的是一開始他想拒絕那女人的誘惑，但畢竟他是個空虛需要愛的人，最後仍然屈服於她的吻。歌詞一直到這裡都還沒有很明顯的暴力，但下一句 “There was no-one to be seen/ No-one left to hear my scream” 就開始變得黑暗了。x 光眼的女人侵犯了他，他試圖求救，但沒有人聽見、沒有人看見。

下一段的 “As she swallowed space and time “，除了可以當作是在性高潮時感覺到時空都靜止了之外，”swallow”（吞）當然也有口交的暗示。”We gathered pearls and swine” 中的 pearls 指的是性愛中快樂的部分，但這份快樂畢竟不是兩廂情願，所以也含有 swine （豬）（引申為獸性）下流的意味在其中。接著 “She shot me to the sun/ Like a bullet from a gun” 令人聯想到 Noel Gallagher’s 的另一首歌 If I Had a Gun 的歌詞 “If I had a gun, I’d shoot a hole into the sun/ And love would burn this city down for you” 。不過當然在 If I Had a Gun 中，是充滿愛意與浪漫，而在這首歌中，gun 則是代表射精、暴力。

那女人利用完他之後，便丟下他一個人。因此他又回到了第一段的寂寞狀態，只能安慰自己 “Turn the page and let it go”，放手別再惦記那女人，那女人所秉持的信念和自己不同，她所相信的都是 “The truth is on your stereo”，意指那女人只是一個追求世俗價值，追求收音機裡流行音樂般短暫的快樂。

很難想像一首充滿性與暴力的黑暗歌曲能以如此隱晦而充滿想像空間的文字包裝起來。不得不佩服 Noel Gallagher 的作詞。要是這種主題處理得不好就會顯得下流，但這首歌初步聽起來、看起來完全沒有涉及到黑暗面，細細推敲才發現它背後的故事。當然或許我的解釋只是其中一個解釋，如果各位對這首歌有不同的見解也請和我分享吧。
