Hozier

Hozier是一位爱尔兰的蓝调歌手，曲风包含蓝调、摇滚、民谣，还有灵魂音乐，在2013年发行的单曲”Take Me to Church”广受瞩目，这首歌的MV是描述一对同性恋伴侣，其中一人被一群憎恨同性恋的人攻击。其实这部MV是呼应之前在俄罗斯发生的事件，有一群人，甚至是一些组织，以宗教为名义，专门攻击LGBT(Lesbian 女同性恋，Gay 男同性恋，Biosexual 双性恋，Trangenger 跨性别者)。

这首歌以讽刺的手法，批评传统天主教激进保守，Hozier在访问中曾说过一段话：

“‘Take Me to Church’ is essentially about sex, but it’s a tongue-in-cheek attack at organizations that would……undermine humanity by successfully teaching shame about sexual orientation — that it is sinful, or that it offends God……But it’s not an attack on faith…… it’s an assertion of self, reclaiming humanity back for something that is the most natural and worthwhile.”

(‘Take Me to Church’ 是一首关于性的歌，有些组织成功地透过宗教，教导人们性爱是羞耻的，甚至是对上帝不敬的，这首歌要你抛开教条，找回自己，找回人性中最有价值的部分)

光看歌名的部分，譬喻就运用得很妙。”Take Me to Church”其实就是”Take Me to Bed”。Hozier认为教会不断荼毒人心，违反人性，教导人们性爱是对神的亵渎，因此在歌词里刻意讽刺地说，他所要去的教堂，就是他的卧室，他选择在卧室里膜拜（worship也可指发生性行为）。天主教认为同性恋天生就有罪，是ㄧ种病态，而Hozier则认为性爱是人权，任何人，无论性别无论性向，都有权享受性爱。

附歌的部分，deathless death 有两种意思，一是如果享受性爱是一种对神的亵渎，那么他宁可死，也要为了性，为了爱，升华成为不朽的永恒。另一个意思是指，爱上一个人时，我们进入一种近似死亡的状态，Hozier曾说

“I found the experience of falling in love or being in love was a death, a death of everything. You kind of watch yourself die in a wonderful way, and you experience for the briefest moment – if you see yourself for a moment through their eyes – everything you believed about yourself gone. In a death-and-rebirth sense.”

大意是说，爱上一个人就好像看着自己以一个美好的方式慢慢死去，我们抛下自己所有的一切，抛下自己相信的一切去爱一个人。

另外，法文有一个词叫“la petite mort”，指的是在性高潮时会有一种叫做”小死”的状态。

第三段则是说，无论是信仰宗教或是爱一个人都必须付出代价，并批评某些信徒自以为高高在上，不知民间疾苦，只想试图改变别人，延续到接下来说的”Only then I am human / Only then I am clean”，唯有在人们被逼到角落，束手无策，迫不得已接受教会的那一套价值观时，教会才把他们当人看，才认为他们纯洁。

真的是一首很细腻的歌，让人开始重新思考关于人，关于爱，关于性，关于宗教的问题。下面这一个是Ed Sheeran翻唱的，其实和原版风格不太一样，不过都满好听的！
