Damien Rice

第一次听 Damien Rice 的这首 Cheers Darlin’ 就觉得曲风十分特别，有点像歌唱，又有点像喃喃自语，有点像抱怨，但在哀伤中又带着感慨与爱。像是一首指弹给自己、而不是唱给别人听的蓝调，表面显露的淡淡哀愁盖不过内心溢于言表的苦痛。

叙事者深爱着一个女孩，但或许因为年少无知、不知把握，又或者单纯地因为害羞、不善表达，而错过了对的人，反倒是另一个男人带走了他深爱的女孩。这要他情何以堪？他早遇见了他的公主，却因没有表达、没有把握，而错失一辈子的幸福。而现在他只能眼睁睁著别人牵着他的女孩进教堂，只能在一旁默默祝福、又或者默默怨恨这男人，甚至默默怨恨自己。

What am I darlin’? 他自问，他在这女孩眼中，是什么样的存在呢？是一个存在过去的人物而已吗？是餐后甜点吗？还是在这女孩眼中，他不曾是对的人，只是一段错误的缘分呢？
