Brandi Carlile的音乐本来在台湾似乎没什么人听，不过在美剧Grey’s Anatomy(实习医生)里翻唱过后，这首歌突然一炮而红。除了旋律之外，我想这首歌的歌词也是多人喜欢它的原因。

这首歌主要表达的概念是:无论我的过去是多么不堪，你都愿意接受这样的我，因为就是这些不堪的过往，使我成为现在的我。这样才算是真正喜欢一个人吧!如论过去的自己或现在的自己是什么样的人，有着哪些令人无法忍受的缺点或悲惨不可告人的过往，假如真有那么一个人，是可以让自己倾诉所有经历，而不需担心说出来会不为对方所接受的，那就是一件很幸福的事吧!

有一个愿意倾听的朋友是件值得珍惜的事，假如今天自己经历了一件好到不能再好的事，但却只能自己一个人开心，这开心或许只有原本的一半，但若有一件悲伤到不能再悲伤的事，却只能自己独自在心里难过，那么悲伤似乎会加倍成长。很多时候，最重要的并不是自己经历了什么，而是有没有人可以倾诉，若真有这么一个愿意倾听自己的人，并且无论如何也不因为我们惨澹的过去而抛弃我们，那么，也许这个人真的是为自己而生的吧!

最后，附上Grey’s Anatomy里翻唱的版本，翻唱和原版都满好听的，风格上似乎有那么一点点不一样，不过都把这首歌的意境表达得很好。
