Blue Velvet是Bernie Wayne 及 Lee Morris 在 1950 年寫的歌曲，原唱是 Tony Bennett，不過之後也有眾多翻唱者，目前最新的翻唱版本就是Lana Del Rey 2012年的版本。

由於作曲者是男性，所以不太適合把這一首歌看成是Lana Del Rey 懷念同性的愛人的歌曲，畢竟她只是翻唱，所以歌詞還是必須以男性角度出發。

歌詞一開始就用了過去式，所以其實事過境遷，愛人現在已不在自己身邊，只能透過回憶來紀念對她的情感。雖然整首歌以藍絲絨作為主題，貫串全曲，不過其實重要的不是藍絲絨，而是那個穿著藍絲絨的女人，以及那個特別的夜晚。那夜的藍天，那夜的星光，以及那女人的雙眼，都勝過那件藍絲絨，所以藍絲絨只不過是用來襯托出自己對她的思念。然而，這只是一段短暫的戀情，火花過後，燒得什麼也不剩。歌詞中rapture這個字，可以同時指”熱情”，也可以指”世界末日”，也就是說，在兩人戀火漸盛的時候，也同時是告別的時候。可貴的是，事過多年後，自己還記得這段情感，雖然戀人已不在，但那件藍絲絨仍能勾起回憶，化為不捨與緬懷的淚珠。

這個版本算是Blue Velvet還鏋有名的翻唱版（不過個人還是比較喜歡Lana版本）
