很喜欢有故事的歌曲，不只是诉说情感，而是透过讲述一个故事来表达情感。Blue Jeans这首歌叙述一对恋人，男方为了给女方幸福，而透过不法手段快速取得金钱，但女方却觉得财富并非她所要的，她要的，只是两人简简单单在一起而已，没想到金钱却将恋人从自己身边偷走。

故事线很单纯，但歌词的写作手法却用了很多比喻和象征。首先用早逝的电影明星James Dean来形容自己的恋人，James Dean代表的是ㄧ种反社会的颓废风格，隐约带出歌曲黑暗的结局。接着，You so fresh to death; sick as ca-cancer这一句中，fresh和sick都有cool的意思，但却用death 和cancer（死亡和癌症）来形容爱人的酷，暗示他的性格将带他走向死亡，带他们的爱情走向死亡，为结局埋下伏笔。

叙述者想要的，只是两人在一起的爱情，无论贵贱，都不会影响到这份爱，但对方却误解了，误以为爱情必须用金钱来买，误以为有了财富就能幸福美满，殊不知这才是两人走向分裂的原因。

最后，我想歌名叫做Blue Jeans应该也有某种意涵吧！牛仔裤是蓝领工人的代表，代表了自己的爱人从前尚未被金钱迷惑时的打扮，自己最喜欢的，就是他那最自然，毫无作做的打扮，即使不是高级西装，只要对方能常陪在自己身边，哪怕是薪水不高的工人，哪怕是穿着褪色的牛仔裤，那就是自己的最爱。
