Cigarettes After Sex 的這首 Apocalypse（ 世界末日），宛如有迷幻的魔咒一般，聽著便難以自拔，有種墜入無底深淵的感觸，但同時，內心的苦痛卻被主唱 Greg Gonzalez 的聲音所撫平。

Apocalypse 這首歌訴說的是一對相互喜歡，卻無法成為戀人的朋友。敘事者愛戀著童年的好友，對方的心卻另有所屬。然而，在對方感情破碎之際，卻又無法脫離那份關係，久久為情所苦，因此，最終仍然未能與敘事者相愛。

他深知，若與好友成為戀人關係，必定會造成末日般的災難，或許再也無法挽救，但即便如此，他仍願放手一搏，“Come out & haunt me/ I know you want me” ，除了是希望對方走出情傷之外，用 haunt （糾纏、縈繞於心）這個字更表達了即便知道結果未必美好，仍想把握住這段情的意願。
