Brandi Carlile的音樂本來在台灣似乎沒什麼人聽，不過在美劇Grey’s Anatomy(實習醫生)裡翻唱過後，這首歌突然一炮而紅。除了旋律之外，我想這首歌的歌詞也是多人喜歡它的原因。

這首歌主要表達的概念是:無論我的過去是多麼不堪，你都願意接受這樣的我，因為就是這些不堪的過往，使我成為現在的我。這樣才算是真正喜歡一個人吧!如論過去的自己或現在的自己是什麼樣的人，有著哪些令人無法忍受的缺點或悲慘不可告人的過往，假如真有那麼一個人，是可以讓自己傾訴所有經歷，而不需擔心說出來會不為對方所接受的，那就是一件很幸福的事吧!

有一個願意傾聽的朋友是件值得珍惜的事，假如今天自己經歷了一件好到不能再好的事，但卻只能自己一個人開心，這開心或許只有原本的一半，但若有一件悲傷到不能再悲傷的事，卻只能自己獨自在心裡難過，那麼悲傷似乎會加倍成長。很多時候，最重要的並不是自己經歷了什麼，而是有沒有人可以傾訴，若真有這麼一個願意傾聽自己的人，並且無論如何也不因為我們慘澹的過去而拋棄我們，那麼，也許這個人真的是為自己而生的吧!

最後，附上Grey’s Anatomy裡翻唱的版本，翻唱和原版都滿好聽的，風格上似乎有那麼一點點不一樣，不過都把這首歌的意境表達得很好。
