Joshua Hyslop – The Flood

最近无意间点到 Joshua Hyslop 的 Youtube 影片，才意外发现一位音乐才子，有种相见恨晚的感觉。Joshua Hyslop 是加拿大创作歌手，曲风偏向民谣。在2011年发行他的第一张 EP Cold Wind，这次介绍的 The Flood 则收录在他的专辑 In Deepest Blue 中，从歌曲开头清澈的吉他伴奏就已经足以让人爱上这首歌。

整首歌围绕着 flood 洪水的意象，把一段破碎的感情比喻成洪水来袭，一方面是说外在面临的困难、阻碍如洪水般难以抵挡，另一方面也是说内在的心痛、心碎，眼泪忍在眼角，如洪水般就要溃堤。面对感情问题，主角是个爱逞强、不愿低头的人，”When I say how much more can I take”，他以为自己一个人也能过得很好，以为少了对方也能重新生活，但 “I’ve tried I cannot lift my head”，他发现这样的生活不再快乐，不再令人期待。”But if my bones should come apart/ Then I’ll have nothing left to give” 此刻的她就像一个空壳，没了血肉与骨头，无法承载任何打击，无法对抗任何风雨。他终究回到了他的避风港，或许洪水过后，两人重新整建的家园会更耐得住考验。
