刚听到这首歌时，只是被 Regina Spektor 的那种空灵的声音所吸引，细看歌词，又对这背后的故事感到赞叹。Samson 是圣经中的大力士，他的力量来自头发。他因为遭受许多挫折后开始堕落，便与妓女 Deliah 交往，以致落入陷阱，头发被剪掉而力量全失。后来他真心悔改，神再次赐予他力量。在一次战斗中，他承受不住庙宇梁柱的重量而被击垮。

这首歌虽然是以这个圣经故事为背景，不过却着重在故事的另一面：爱情。歌曲以 Deliah 的角度来写，诉说她与 Samson 相识时的那份真情。歌词中的”Bible didn’t mention us”的意思，我想应该是指里面完全没有提到两人相爱的部分，只是一面倒地将 Deliah 描写成一个恶毒的女人，还有 Samson 堕落的过程。虽然说在圣经中，Samson 确实是因为 Deliah 才丧失力量，但若因为这样的结果就忽略两人相爱的过程，或许也是一种残忍。

这首歌还有另一个解读方式，据说 Regina Spektor 曾经有个得癌症病重的男友，而整首歌是在缅怀这位因病而未能有好结果的恋人。因为做化疗的关系，头发渐渐脱落，而 Bible didn’t mention us 指的则是两人未能在神的见证下成婚。
