個人非常不喜歡以音樂的名義來散播宗教思想，一開始聽這首歌的時候覺得真是可惜了，旋律還不錯的音樂就這樣被那一句又一句沒完沒了的 god is good god is great 給毀了，不過聽了一陣子久以後，感覺這應該不是真的在傳教的音樂吧！而是一首以 god 做為象徵的音樂，以神來象徵一切人們所推崇的高高在上的真理或各種人事物，象徵那些人們盲目追尋、從來不曾懷疑過的崇高的一切。那穿插在每段歌詞之間的 god is good god is great 不是真的歌頌神，而是讓我們看清大家是如何一味這麼相信著他們心目中的神。

除了指出大眾盲從的現象，另一方面，我想這首歌真正要表達的，更像是站在一個不同的立場，讓人們看到，神，或者被眾人崇拜的明星、領袖、英雄，他們都有不為人知的一面、不堪的一面、不是風風光光的一面、辛苦難熬的一面，又或者應該說，平凡的一面，就像你我一樣平凡、一樣有悲有喜。

“If God had a face/ what would it look like/ And would you want to see” 答案大概是 no 吧！如果將一個人擺在高高在上的位置崇拜著，而自己只是遠遠的低低的膜拜著追隨著，絲毫不曾有一點懷疑，那麼有一天，這偉大的神就突然變成車上的路人，和自己做著一模一樣的事，買車票刷卡吃零食，那麼這個我們長久以來一直崇拜著的「神」的形相還在嗎？即使還在，那麼，他的形相依舊是像從前那樣高高在上的嗎？

距離產生美感，這也適用在人們對偶像的崇拜吧！或許這些偶像是只可遠觀不可褻玩的，我們崇拜他們，那他們呢？他們怎麼辦？信徒們有挫折有痛苦找神告解，歌迷太無聊找歌手簽名，老百姓有難找超人相救，那這些高高在上的人們傷心難過有困難時，誰來幫他們解決？

每個人都有自己的故事，超人也一樣，英雄偶像也一樣，沒有人永遠高高在上，沒有人不曾難過不曾脆弱，再堅強的人也需要被愛被安慰。
