Hozier

Hozier是一位愛爾蘭的藍調歌手，曲風包含藍調、搖滾、民謠，還有靈魂音樂，在2013年發行的單曲”Take Me to Church”廣受矚目，這首歌的MV是描述一對同性戀伴侶，其中一人被一群憎恨同性戀的人攻擊。其實這部MV是呼應之前在俄羅斯發生的事件，有一群人，甚至是一些組織，以宗教為名義，專門攻擊LGBT(Lesbian 女同性戀，Gay 男同性戀，Biosexual 雙性戀，Trangenger 跨性別者)。

這首歌以諷刺的手法，批評傳統天主教激進保守，Hozier在訪問中曾說過一段話：

“‘Take Me to Church’ is essentially about sex, but it’s a tongue-in-cheek attack at organizations that would……undermine humanity by successfully teaching shame about sexual orientation — that it is sinful, or that it offends God……But it’s not an attack on faith…… it’s an assertion of self, reclaiming humanity back for something that is the most natural and worthwhile.”

(‘Take Me to Church’ 是一首關於性的歌，有些組織成功地透過宗教，教導人們性愛是羞恥的，甚至是對上帝不敬的，這首歌要你拋開教條，找回自己，找回人性中最有價值的部分)

光看歌名的部分，譬喻就運用得很妙。”Take Me to Church”其實就是”Take Me to Bed”。Hozier認為教會不斷荼毒人心，違反人性，教導人們性愛是對神的褻瀆，因此在歌詞裡刻意諷刺地說，他所要去的教堂，就是他的臥室，他選擇在臥室裡膜拜（worship也可指發生性行為）。天主教認為同性戀天生就有罪，是ㄧ種病態，而Hozier則認為性愛是人權，任何人，無論性別無論性向，都有權享受性愛。

附歌的部分，deathless death 有兩種意思，一是如果享受性愛是一種對神的褻瀆，那麼他寧可死，也要為了性，為了愛，昇華成為不朽的永恆。另一個意思是指，愛上一個人時，我們進入一種近似死亡的狀態，Hozier曾說

“I found the experience of falling in love or being in love was a death, a death of everything. You kind of watch yourself die in a wonderful way, and you experience for the briefest moment – if you see yourself for a moment through their eyes – everything you believed about yourself gone. In a death-and-rebirth sense.”

大意是說，愛上一個人就好像看著自己以一個美好的方式慢慢死去，我們拋下自己所有的一切，拋下自己相信的一切去愛一個人。

另外，法文有一個詞叫“la petite mort”，指的是在性高潮時會有一種叫做”小死”的狀態。

第三段則是說，無論是信仰宗教或是愛一個人都必須付出代價，並批評某些信徒自以為高高在上，不知民間疾苦，只想試圖改變別人，延續到接下來說的”Only then I am human / Only then I am clean”，唯有在人們被逼到角落，束手無策，迫不得已接受教會的那一套價值觀時，教會才把他們當人看，才認為他們純潔。

真的是一首很細膩的歌，讓人開始重新思考關於人，關於愛，關於性，關於宗教的問題。下面這一個是Ed Sheeran翻唱的，其實和原版風格不太一樣，不過都滿好聽的！
