Elena Tonra 是 Daughter 樂團的主唱，關於這首 Blue and Grey 的來歷其實不是很請楚，或許是在樂團成立前的個人創作，訴說一個既悲傷又幸福的故事。

故事的女主角遇到了自己心愛的人，為他傾倒，但或許愛情從來就沒有如此順利。她的美貌、她的好，既是令那男人愛上他的原因，也是令他怨恨她的原因。或許男主角無法接受，與這世界一起分享自己心愛女人的美好，他寧願將她鎖在高塔中，寧願她孤寂也不要這世界擁有她。而終究是沒有人喜歡孤獨的，她不願違背他的要求，只能以死來尋求解脫。

故事的結局，男人也品嚐了與世隔絕的孤獨，並隨著時間流逝，一步步邁向與女孩更貼近的世界。他們深愛著對方，無庸置疑，這份愛超越了時間、超越了生死，直到兩人同在另一個世界，這份愛一直都沒有消逝。

或許，如果你深愛著某個人，不該用愛來一步步掐死她、令她窒息。畢竟，誰能保證，每一份愛都如同這首歌裡的一樣，如此堅韌，能夠超越生死呢？
