Avenged Sevenfold (七級煉獄 ) 是來自美國加州的重金屬樂團，這一首 Dear God 可以算是極少數曲風稍微溫和一點的深情情歌，和專輯中的其他搖滾、金屬很不一樣。

總覺得悲傷的情歌很容易引起共鳴。徹底心碎或是愛得死去活來的情歌容易令人感到濫情，不過像這種關於後悔、關於分手後還希望對方好好過的情歌，反而更能讓人喜歡。我想，這首歌之所以感人，是因為主角並不說自己多愛對方，而是透過歌名 Dear God 及歌詞中的禱告，來讓聽眾感覺到對對方的關照。即使當初是因為自己的自私或一時衝動而分手，此刻卻希望，即使在她身旁的不是自己，也要神確保她的安危，如果自己已經無法挽回，起碼要一個偉大的力量去陪伴著愛人，別讓她像自己一樣孤單徬徨。

我覺得是一首會越聽越悲傷，但同時又覺得十分溫情的歌曲，有點暗自希望 Avenged Sevenfold 能再偶爾換換路線走這類的歌XD
